No matter how long you’ve been in a relationship with someone, breaking up is never easy to do. Like the song says, “breaking up is hard to do” and when your past lover becomes your ex, it’s not an easy time to navigate — no matter how many times you’ve been there.
It’s not uncommon for us to want to hold on to what we had, but if you’re looking to move forward and not be stuck, there are some good ways you can help yourself get over an ex, and you just have to be willing to go there.

Feeling sad is normal and okay after a breakup, and allowing yourself that space to feel it and grieve is healthy and normal.

No late night "I miss you calls" or "accidentally" bumping into them. Breaking off contact will be easier for both of you.
Break Up On Social Media
And stop stalking them! With social media and the way we're all so connected now, it would be too easy to check in on their profile and "stalk" what they're up do. Don't do that to yourself.
Frame the Positives
Granted, it may not have been roses, especially since you're no longer together, but framing the positives about your relationship can help you move forward in a much healthier way.
Start Working Out
Work out for you -- not to look better so your ex feels bad about the breakup. Those endorphins that run through your body during a workout can do a world of good for your heart.
Don’t Jump Into Bed With Them
It may be tempting to keep your intimate relationship going or jump back in for "one last go," but that's not smart for either of you! Don't go there and it will be easier on you.

Seek Support From Your Friends
Friends can heal a heart like no other. Hang out with your friends and other people who make you feel better generally about life and you'll start to feel better and forget your ex.
