Nothing comes between a style rebel and his weird winter hat
By Megan Gustashaw, GQ
There are certain style moves that require an excess of confidence to pull off past the age of seven. Tucking your sweatpants into your socks is one of them. Wearing a fanny pack
is another one. Also on the list: completing your outfit with a kitschy
earflap knit hat; the kind typically reserved for spirited toddlers and
people who work in health-food stores. While the guys in your friend
group probably aren't rocking this look, the fashion and music industry
has a surplus of folks willing to go there with their headwear. Adam
Levine, who recently celebrated his 38th birthday, is one of them.
The Maroon 5 front-man and relatively new father is very much feeling himself in this lamb beanie.
He's worn it on several occasions, apparently.

But he isn't the only one to embrace this DGAF winter hat in all its juvenile glory. Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, is a big fan of the look—both wearing and designing it. We don't exactly blame him either—long, rocker hair and trapper-style hats do complement each other nicely. Especially when all of the other pieces—luxe outerwear, vintage jeans, thriving career—are in place.
Different versions of this Gucci knit hat were shown on the runway
and have been spotted on famous folks other than the Italian designer.
Here's A$AP Rocky looking stoned AF at a Guess event in an orange
version of one. He's even performed in the hat on prior occasions.
Of course Jared Leto should be recognized if we're talking about earflap beanies and DGAF winter style. Leto never met a trapper-style hat he didn't like, whether knitted and cozy or sturdy and lined in fur.

Seriously, this 2014 airport sighting was just one of several
times Leto has found the hat to be the perfect finishing touch on his
look. It's certainly one way to stay warm. Maybe not yours, maybe not
ours, but we appreciate the break from standard-issue cashmere beanies,
even if only from a distance.
