You know the guy who is obsessed with his hair. He uses the same product, and the same amount, every time; he won't travel without his trusted hair dryer; and he won't let anyone touch his hair except for his barber. Hell, maybe you are that guy.
[post_ads]Rag & Bone channeled its inner hair devotee and launched a video titled Hair at Tribeca Film Festival, part of the Rag & Bone Films initiative. The film, directed by John Turturro and shot by Fred Elmes, features Bobby Cannavale as the obsessor and Tuturro as his sounding board. Together, they ad-lib an entire conversation about hair. Tuturro said the improve came naturally to the two friends.
"I've known Bobby for many years, and we have a real life friendship which made the ad-libbing process organic," says Tuturro. "Bobby has a very good sense of humor and we both know when not to take ourselves too seriously."
Marcus Wainwright, Rag & Bone CEO, founder, and creative director, said working with Turturro and Cannavale was an easy choice.
"John is an icon, a totally authentic person and someone who has truly mastered his craft—those are always the kinds of people we strive to work with and who we look up to," he says. "And we've always loved Bobby's work—and he's been a long time Rag fan. Him and John are great friends who for whatever reason share a passion for their hair."
The video was set in a Brooklyn barbershop, complete with an old-school vibe reflective of the Rag & Bone ideal. Both Turturro and videographer Fred Elmes felt it was at the intersection of fashion and film.

"Clothes and hair go together; they're part of our social identity," says Tuturro. " People are very particular about their hair, they share tips, tricks about it—and the barber shop is where all this confidential hair information is revealed."
The combination of fashion, grooming, and film is something Rag & Bone hopes to capitalize on in future films.
"We're always looking for new ways to innovate and be creative. Rag & Bone Films has allowed us a space to do that in," says Wainwright. "We'll surely keep seeking out new ways to push the boundaries in both fashion and cinematography."
