Wearing a bright, colorful, or just plain flashy timepiece can be entertaining, but sometimes something a little more subtle will pull a look together perfectly. DLC or ion-plated black watches are by no means something new, and looking at the number of new models that came out recently, the trend isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Hamilton Khaki Field Black
This black PVD-finished variant of Hamilton's Khaki Field range has a much different vibe than the stainless steel variant. A comfortable 40-millimeter case size and bold red seconds hand make this Swiss quartz timepiece a fine choice for an all-black look that isn't completely under the radar.

This entry from the Casio G-Shock line blends in perfectly with outerwear, thanks to its heather-patterned exterior designed to resemble the texture of black fleece. It is not only shock- and water-resistant, but also capable of withstanding exposure to magnetic fields.

Tag Heuer Monza Reissue
This Tag Heuer is a spot-on remake of a '70s classic. The brand has always done a fine job of recreating their vintage watches using modern materials and case sizes — the Monza is no exception. Using a titanium carbide coating over a solid grade-5 titanium case gives the timepiece a similar look to its '70s predecessor, without the inherent risk of scratching through to bare metal that came with older PVD-coated steel watches.
